State Rep. David Morales MPA’19 defeated incumbent Mayor Brett Smiley in the Democratic primary, the Associated Press called Wednesday night. Helena Foulkes, former president of CVS Pharmacy, won the Democratic primary for governor earlier that night.
Both candidates will face off against their respective elections’ Republican nominees in the general election on Nov. 3.
Late Wednesday night, Miguel Youngs declared victory in the Democratic primary for City Council's Ward 1 seat, ousting incumbent John Goncalves ’13 MA’15. There is no Republican candidate in the Ward 1 race.
